Ex-Ajax Talent Resurfaces At Pirates

Orlando Pirates have added former South Africa youth international Shane Saralina into their first-team squad ahead of next season.

Saralina, 25, is a product of the now-defunct Ajax Cape Town academy system and was touted for a huge future after breaking into the South Africa junior national teams.

He was part of the U-20 FIFA World Cup squad in 2017 but then was surprisingly released by the Urban Warriors despite starring in their youth system.

Spells at Cape Umoya United in the GladAfrica Championship followed before a heartbreak in the ABC Motsepe League playoffs with Glendene two years later and all seemed to be falling apart for the player.

However, after joining up with Pele Pele in the same division after the ill-fated campaign in Western Cape, the player looks seemingly on the upwards trajectory again and has been training with the Pirates first team for several months now.

iDiski Times can now confirm he’s officially landed a first-team contract with the Buccaneers with the left-footed centre-back set to add depth to their new-look defence next season.

Saralina was the 2016 Player of the Tournament at the prestigious Bayhill Metropolitan Cup in Cape Town where some of the country’s brightest talents have emerged from.
