ESKOM ANNOUNCES STAGE 4 LOADSHEDDING FOR FRIDAY
Lower stages expected over the weekend.
Eskom has announced that Stage 4 of loadshedding will be in force between 05:00 and midnight tomorrow (July 8th).
While a number of generating units had been returned to service over the past few days following industrial action, a similar number had to be taken off line so that repairs and maintenance could take place.
Encouraging news was that 600mW of capacity from the Hydroelectrica de Cahora Bassa (HCB) in Mozambique was returned to service, relieving some pressure on the grid.
A total of nine generating units are expected to return to service over the next day or so, which will enable lower stages of load shedding to be implemented over the weekend.
The stages for tomorrow, Friday July 8, are as follows:
00:00 – 05:00 = Stage 2
05:00 – 24:00 = Stage 4
An area-specific schedule of interruptions will be posted shortly after midnight tonight.
