Zuki Lamani, a popular influencer and aspiring actress, is reaching out to the South African community for assistance in paying her university fees.
Currently in her final year at the University of Cape Town, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in linguistics and media studies, Zuki is facing a financial shortfall of R240,000.
In an effort to gather funds, Zuki has set up a crowdfunding account, which has already garnered R2810 in donations.
Born and raised in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, Zuki’s decision to attend the prestigious University of Cape Town was driven by her aspirations for a brighter future and her passion for language’s ability to bridge barriers and inspire transformation in young people.
Zuki is now appealing to the public for support, as without the necessary funds, she will be unable to complete her studies and enter the job market, joining the ranks of the unemployed youth.

She explains that she has been blocked from registering for her courses due to outstanding fees, making her plea for financial assistance all the more urgent.
With a current fee balance of R239,432.11 at the University of Cape Town, accruing 1% interest each month, Zuki shares that her application for financial aid through Nsfas was rejected based on the household income cap of R350,000.
As a member of the “missing middle” in South Africa, with a household income below R600,000, Zuki finds herself unable to continue her studies due to the university’s fee block policy.
