Kaizer Chiefs fullback Edmilson Dove has described how he felt when he made his home debut earlier in the season.

The newly signed Mozambican understood how the club’s massive support base felt about the seven-year trophy drought.

CHIEFS WINNING TROPHIES

He is confident and believes it’s just a matter of time before Chiefs starts winning trophies again.

The last time Amakhosi lifted a trophy was back in 2014/15 season when they won the league Absa Premiership [now called DStv Premiership] and the MTN8.

In the 2019/20 campaign, the Soweto giants came close to lifting the league title. However, they lost it to Mamelodi Sundowns on the last day of the season following a one all draw against Baroka.

“As footballers we always want to win trophies and that comes with time. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose and I think our time is coming,” Dove told the media.

“We’ve been working, it’s just a matter of time to bring the silverware to the Amakhosi nation.

“This is a big club, also the number of supporters is huge, I felt that the first time I got here.

“Things sometimes have not been going our way. In life everything is a process we learn everyday.”

Dove believes the squad that was assembled is capable of winning trophies.

According to him, the players are beginning to gel and the defence seems to have turned the corner after keeping cleansheets in their last matches against AmaZulu and Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates.

GIVE THEIR BEST

“It doesn’t matter who comes on the field at the end of the day we’ve been working hard to get an opportunity to play. So I think it’s a matter of who is on the field and they give their best,” Dove added.

Dove who was voted by the fans in the starting eleven of Carling Black Label Cup will be in action on Saturday as Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and AmaZulu battle out for the title at the iconic FNB Stadium.
