SAFA Capricorn Region Local Football Associations (LFAs) held a march on Wednesday morning to the region’s offices, demanding that their leaders support Ria Ledwaba for the SAFA presidency.

The much anticipated SAFA elective congress will take place on Saturday, 25 June, at the Sandton Convention Center in Johannesburg.

Ledwaba is challenging incumbent president Dr Danny Jordaan who is vying for a third term in office. Capricorn is one of the five regions in Limpopo that have nominated Jordaan for the top position.

The march was led by a former SAFA NEC member and a former ally to Danny Jordaan, Abel Rakoma.

“With regard to the memorandum, the most important thing is that there must be a change in terms of the delegates that are going to the congress,” Rakoma told the media.

“It is very clear that the president Jacky Mogashoa has actually been manipulated already. Of course, with the secretary, they are both manipulated. They couldn’t even come here to receive the memorandum because they are actually two-faced.

“We are saying the region must elect Ria because the nomination (for Danny Jordaan) was not done by this particular region. So, it’s very important that they must change the delegation and get a new delegation to go and vote,” he said.

The memorandum was received by Linford Mahlahare and Marnold Mabotja on behalf of the regional executive committee.

Mahlahare promised that the region would have an urgent meeting no later than Thursday and revert back to the concerned members.

Former footballers such as Andrew Rabutla, Dukes Machaka and Jackie ‘Styles’ Ledwaba also graced the event to show their support.
