Egypt national team assistant coach Roger de Sa has hinted that he may well continue in the role alongside head coach Carlos Quieroz despite their 2022 FIFA World Cup heartbreak.
Queiroz offered to resign from the role after last month’s elimination at the hands of Senegal, which comes just weeks after their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations final defeat to the same opponents.
But speaking to Sunday World, de Sa claimed that the resignation was not accepted and the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) may be keen on retaining their services.
“We will know in a couple of days whether the federation is keen to keep us on board. Carlos did say that he was resigning but it has not been accepted,” he said. “I am certain that they want us to stay.
“We played 21 matches in six months and lost three games. We are now number four on the Africa rankings just after superpowers Senegal, Morocco and Nigeria.”
