Six teams, namely South Africa, Madagascar, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia and Senegal will only enter the competition in the knockout phase, while eight others contested the group stages.
Both group winners booked their spots in the knockout stages as well, with Botswana finishing in first spot in Group A after winning all three matches, including Sunday’s top of the table clash against Angola.
In addition, Eswatini finished Group B in top spot after beating Lesotho, who had won their first two games, 2-0 on Sunday to move to seven points and one above their opponents.
Botswana will now face Zambia in the quarter-finals, while Eswatini will play against Senegal. Madagascar faces Namibia in the other quarter-final, while defending champions South Africa will meet Mozambique.
The next round will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday.
