Comic Con Cape Town Extends Children’s Hospital Partnership Following an Exceptional Year

Building on a highly successful collaboration in 2025, Comic Con Cape Town is proud to announce the Children’s Hospital as its official charity partner once again for 2026, marking the continuation of a multi-year partnership dedicated to making a real difference in children’s lives.

Last year’s partnership captured the hearts of fans, exhibitors, and partners alike, raising vital funds, increasing awareness, and celebrating children facing serious health challenges as the real-life superheroes they are. Building on this momentum, the 2026 partnership aims to go even bigger, deeper, and louder in support of the hospital’s life-changing work.

Comic Con Cape Town is renowned for celebrating pop culture, comics, gaming, and entertainment, but at its core, the event is about community. In 2026, that sense of community will once again translate into meaningful impact, helping support the Children’s Hospital and the families who rely on its world-class care.

A key focus of the ongoing partnership is the celebration of “superhero children” – young patients whose courage, resilience, and strength rival those of the icons celebrated on Comic Con stages and show floors. These children remind us that heroism doesn’t only live in comics – it lives in real life.

“After seeing the incredible response and impact of last year’s partnership, extending our support into 2026 was an easy decision,” says Rene Staack, Content Director of Comic Con Cape Town. “Together with the Children’s Hospital, we’re proud to continue shining a spotlight on these everyday heroes and helping create tangible change.”

Throughout the Comic Con Cape Town weekend, fans can expect a range of fundraising initiatives, including a dedicated stand at Comic Con where fans can learn more about the charity and make donations, as well as After Dark events such as Coffee & Comics, taking place on 30 April at Truth Coffee at 19:00, featuring international and local comic book artists. All proceeds will benefit the Children’s Hospital. Visitors will also have the option to add a donation when purchasing their tickets, making it easy for every fan to play a part.

The Children’s Hospital is committed to delivering exceptional paediatric healthcare, research, and education in a safe and welcoming environment. The continued partnership with Comic Con Cape Town enables the hospital to expand its programmes and sustain critical services for children in need.

Head of Fundraising at the Children’s Hospital Trust, Cheryl Manikam, says, “The Trust is incredibly grateful for Comic Con Cape Town’s support over the past two years. This year is even more meaningful as Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital marks 70 years of saving and improving children’s lives. It is through the generous support of donors, such as Comic Con Cape Town, that the Trust supports the hospital by building spaces and training professionals, ensuring that all children receive the care they need. All donations raised through the Comic Con Cape Town partnership will go towards the R88-million upgrade of the Short Stay Ward (S11), which is currently overcrowded, with poor ventilation and no privacy for patients and their parents.”
