Mawelele and girlfriend Liu Bassie

South African fast-rising singer Mawelele has swept his new love interest off her feet after dedicating his upcoming single to her.

Just days after setting social media abuzz by debuting his girlfriend, Liu Bassie, on Valentine’s Day, the musician returned to Instagram on Wednesday with another romantic gesture.

He unveiled the cover art for his new song, which features both him and his partner.

The track, titled Forever, is set for release this Friday.

Mawelele also shared a heartwarming video of himself playing the song for his girlfriend while they sat in a car, revealing that the track was inspired by her.

“I wrote this song for her, and I wanted her to know that she’s my forever,” he captioned the post.

The single marks Mawelele’s first release of the year, and fans are already buzzing with anticipation.

In previous years, the singer frequently promoted his music alongside Naledi Aphiwe, sparking speculation about the nature of their relationship and whether they were dating or had split.

But 2026 appears to signal a new chapter, with a new leading lady now receiving all of Mawelele’s public affection.
