Cape Town City have confirmed Terrence Mashego has undergone surgery on his knee after suffering an injury with Bafana Bafana.

Mashego, 23, has emerged as one of the finest left-backs in the South African top flight and his form with the Citizens has earned him a place in the national team set-up under head coach Hugo Broos.

He played an instrumental role in the Citizens’ second-placed finish which secured their place in the 2022/23 CAF Champions League which has resulted in reported interest in his services from Kaizer Chiefs.

However, any potential move may be out on hold for now with the injury he sustained during training with Bafana before they travelled to Morocco last week for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

“Terrence Mashego sustained a knee injury while on international duty with City’s left-back has undergone a successful knee surgery in Cape Town this week,” the club statement read.

iDiski Times understands that Mashego will likely face a recovery period four around three to four weeks and it’s not as serious as first feared.
