The Glamour Boys want to assess Sierra Leone striker Kamara, alongside Burundian international Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana, as first reported by
SABC Sport.
Kamara, 21, was due to arrive in the country imminently as Chiefs look towards landing their latest forward. He is held in high regard since making his debut for the Lone Stars at the age of 19 and scored his first international goal at AFCON 2021 against the Ivory Coast in the group stages.
However, some reports on social media claimed Bo Rangers Chairman Bababi Kamara was withholding his passport so he wouldn’t be able to travel to South Africa.
The club have now come out and dismissed those rumours vehemently via an official statement on their Facebook channel.
“The attention of the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Technical Team and Fan Club of Bo Rangers Football Club has been drawn to some social media posts alleging, among other things, that the club’s talisman, Musa Noah Kamara (aka Musa Tombo), has caught the interest of a South African football club. Some of the posts further state that he was already on his way to South Africa for trials and eventually securing a contract with the prospective club, but for our Executive Chairman, Babadi Kamara, withholding his passport.
“We find these social media posts very disturbing and unfortunate; we countenance same as a deliberate attempt to drive a wedge between us and the player, and to also dent the hard-earned respect and admiration which our Chairman enjoys amongst the football family. Unfortunately, such posts, which are bereft of any professionalism and media ethics are aimed at not only unsettling the player, but also causing ill-will and disaffection for our club and Chairman in the eyes of right-thinking members of society. This is something we take great exception to, especially as we look forward to kick-start the 2022/2023 premier league season while at the same time preparing our team to respectfully represent our country in our maiden continental competition -the Confederation of African Football Champions League.
“Let us state emphatically, and for the records that our Executive Chairman, Babadi Kamara, has at no point in time withheld Musa Noah Kamara’s passport for whatever reason whatsoever. Any insinuation in that respect underscores the prejudices he continues to be subjected to by some ill -intentioned individuals in our society. In addition, we wish to unequivocally state that we have neither received, nor been intimated of any interest howsoever arising in respect of the player from any football team in the world. Let us further emphasize that the said player is a legally contracted player of our club and the said contract still subsists. Inasmuch as we are not averse to holding discussions aimed at severing ties with the player if our demands are met, we are, however, mindful that such engagement should be done within the confines of the law.
“We want to allay the fears of our fans in particular and the football fraternity in general that Musa Noah Kamara (Aka Musa Tombo) is a player of Bo Rangers Football Club and that his status has not changed. We further want to assure same that we will explore every legitimate means at our disposal to protect our interest in the said player including instituting legal action if the need is occasioned.”
