Kaizer Chiefs have invited South African striker Darren Smith for trials, as they continue to search for another striker.
Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane confirmed this week that Amakhosi are still looking for another type of striker, explaining they want to add a target man to their ranks.
The Glamour Boys had several other candidates on trial already, but so far only Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana is understood to have impressed the technical team, as reported in this week’s iDiski Times newspaper.
Smith, 26, has just returned from a six-month stint in the Moroccan Botola Pro league with AS FAR and has now been invited to train with Amakhosi, iDiski Times has learnt – with the player completing his first session at Naturena on Thursday.

During stints with Ekenäs IF and FC Honka in Finland, he netted 31 goals and registered nine assists in 61 games but his spell in North Africa didn’t prove to be as fruitful.
Often used as a late substitute under head coach Sven Vanderbroeck, Smith played eight games and found the net once but was part of the squad that won the Moroccan Throne Cup.
They finished the 2021/22 Botola Pro season in third place behind Raja Athletic Club and Wydad Atheltic Club respectively.
But now the free agent is set for a new venture, as also reported in last week’s edition of the iDiski Times newspaper, after becoming the first South African to ply his trade in Moroccan football.
