Chiefs Drop Points Vs 10-Man Galaxy

Kaizer Chiefs were unable to make their numerical advantage count and only collected a goalless draw against 10-man TS Galaxy.

Chiefs had the first notable chance of the game but Galaxy goalkeeper Vasilije Kolak saved a shot by Keagan Dolly after 11 minutes.

In the 17th minute, S’fiso Hlanti sent a header just past the post, while Ashley Du Preez’s shot in the 29th minute just missed the target.

Galaxy managed to keep Chiefs at bay without in the first half, while failing themselves to create any real chances to threat Brandon Petersen in the Chiefs goal.

Galaxy’s job was made harder when Marks Munyai received a second yellow card for a bad foul on Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana, who had to be stretchered off and was replaced by Christian Saile Basomboli after 55 minutes.

However, Chiefs struggled to break down the resilient Galaxy defence, which is the second-best in the league. Sinethemba Sithebe took a shot from range in the 72nd minute but it sailed over the bar.

Saile had a good chance to score from a header but it was deflected and just missed the target in the 79th minute.

However, it remained goalless, extending Galaxy’s unbeaten run against the Amakhosi to five matches, with four of those having ended in a draw.

The stalemate sees Chiefs remain behind Orlando Pirates in fifth place, with both having collected 28 points but the Buccaneers with the better goal difference.

Galaxy, meanwhile, moved into tenth with 23 points but are still just two points ahead of the relegation/promotion playoff-spot.
