Kaizer Chiefs are considering the signing of former Stellenbosch FC striker Fuad Johnson after impressing during his assessment at the club.

Johnson, 19, was surprisingly released by the DStv Diski Challenge champions after his goals played a pivotal role in their title triumph last season.

The player who went on trial at Belgian clubs Antwerp and Westerlo impressed with his technical ability but the clubs decided against offering him a contract as they were seeking players ready for first-team football in the Belgian top-flight.

SuperSport United and Chiefs subsequently showed interest in his services after cutting ties with Stellies and the player recently trained with Amakhosi’s reserve team and played a friendly against the senior players available upon their return for pre-season training.

While Chiefs were left impressed with his abilities, no decision has been made yet. However, iDiski Times understands he could be roped into their Diski Challenge squad for next season as they assess his progress.

The teenage striker previously worked with Chiefs youth coach Vela Khumalo in the South Africa U17 national team structures who is said to be a keen admirer of his potential.
