Kaizer Chiefs have announced that they have parted ways with veteran defender Eric ‘Tower’ Mathoho, as reported by iDiski Times in March.
Mathoho, 33, has been at the club since 2012 and was one of the last remaining players to have lifted silverware at the Naturena.
However, after making just one one-minute appearance under Arthur Zwane in 2022/23 and a season where he has battled with fitness and injuries, the club have opted not to renew his contract.
On Thursday, Chiefs confirmed the news, stating “Mathoho will sadly leave the Club” at the end of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season.
Overall, Mathoho has made over 250 appearances for the Glamour Boys, scoring 26 goals.
He awon two DStv Premiership trophies with the club (in 2012/13 and 2014/15) as well as one MTN8 and on Nedbank Cup trophy.
