Chiefs And Galaxy Share The Spoils At FNB

Kaizer Chiefs moved closer to second place after playing out to a dull 0-0 draw with TS Galaxy in their DStv Premiership clash at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Amakhosi were looking to avenge their Nedbank Cup defeat earlier this year at the hands of the Rockets when they hosted the relegation-threatened side in Soweto.

However, both sides lacked urgency despite having plenty to play for; Chiefs with the chance to move ahead of Royal AM in second place and Galaxy looking to move away from the relegation zone.

The home side dominated possession, as expected but both only managed three shots on target, none of which really threatened the respective goalkeepers Brandon Petersen or Melusi Buthelezi.

Second-half substitute Nkosingiphile Ngcobo came the closest to opening the scoring when he struck the post in second-half stoppage time but it wasn’t to be.

The point moved Stuart Baxter’s side one point behind the KZN outfit while the Rockets moved to 14th, one point ahead of Swallows in 15th – who have one game in hand.

How the two sides lined up:

Kaizer Chiefs: Petersen, Ngezana, Dube, Mphahlele, Frosler, Blom, Alexander, Baccus, Parker (c), Nurkovic, Dolly.

Subs: Bvuma, Cardoso, Castro, Mashiane, Nange, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Zuma, Njabulo Ngcobo, Radebe.

TS Galaxy: Buthelezi, Radebe, Msimango, Sanoka, Seedat, Aubaas, Mongae, Mbatha, Mbunjana, Hlongwane, Kwem.

Subs: Kolak, Lakay, Brooks, Mahlangu, Ndwandwe, Mahlangu, Fillepeto, Mere, Roberts.
