Miss Universe Nigeria slams people criticising her reflection post

Chidinma Adetshina has fired back at critics who took issue with her recent reflection on her pageant journey.

The beauty queen, who last year transitioned from competing in Miss South Africa to joining Miss Universe Nigeria shared a heartfelt Instagram post marking the anniversary of that turning point.

However, her words sparked mixed reactions, with some followers accusing her of being “ungrateful” and questioning how her “dream was shattered.”

In a follow-up post, Chidinma addressed the backlash head-on.

“So sad how a person cannot reflect on her journey. I’ve been receiving so many messages saying, ‘how was your dream shattered?’, ‘you’re being ungrateful’ and so many things… Firstly, the 10th of August was the day the show was held, however I couldn’t participate. On the 14th of August, I accepted the invitation. Today is not the 14th?? You guys should allow a person reflect in peace.”

She went on to express her gratitude for the way events unfolded, saying her own plans may not have worked out, but “God’s plans did.”

“It’s been a year and I’m more grateful than ever because my plans didn’t work for me but God’s plans did. This month last year was filled with so much emotions but looking back it was all worth it… How am I being ungrateful when I’m LITERALLY living in answered prayers! The end of one journey was the beginning of another and a step to my dream.”

Chidinma urged people to stop “changing the narrative” and let her celebrate both the highs and lows of her journey as she approaches the end of her reign.

“Talking about it doesn’t change anything… Please stop changing the narrative and allow me celebrate every moment, the good and the bad as I approach the end of my journey.”
