Gunna

Gunna closed out his South African run on a high note when he headlined the Milk + Cookies festival at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg on 11 January 2025, delivering a performance that felt both personal and celebratory.

The American rapper was met with roaring excitement from the moment fans began chanting his name, even before he appeared on stage.

A brief delay only heightened the anticipation, with the crowd repeatedly shouting, “Gunna we wanna party,” as they waited for the headline act to arrive.

When Gunna finally stepped out, he made an immediate statement of appreciation for his local supporters.

He performed wearing South African-inspired accessories, completing his flared pants look with a South African flag worn as a hair band — a gesture that instantly won over the crowd.

He opened his set with Just Say Dat and took fans on a journey through his catalogue, performing popular tracks such as GWFU, One of Wun, Hot, and Jump, his collaboration with Tyla.

Each song was met with deafening cheers, as fans sang along and chanted his name throughout the performance.

Between songs, Gunna made it clear how much the moment meant to him. “Yo, we in South Africa, Johannesburg make some noise,” he shouted at one point, before later adding, “I feel blessed to be here on stage, I swear to God.”
