CBC Update: Latest Soweto Derby XIs Revealed

Carling Black Label has announced the latest starting XIs for the Soweto Derby on 12 November, with Itumeleng Khune continuing to rack up the most votes.

Khune, 35, is currently sidelined with injury but the clear favourite of South African football fans. The Chiefs shot stopper has received 112,779 votes so far, which is more than all players from Mamelodi Sundowns and AmaZulu combined.

 

He is followed by Keagan Dolly with 40,965 votes and Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana with 36,537 votes. There was only one change in the latest Chiefs line-up, with Reeve Frosler replacing Edmilson Dove.

Meanwhile, Pirates XI remained unchanged with Kermit Erasmus leading the votes for the Buccaneers with 34,217 votes. he is followed by Richard Ofori with 32,588 and Thembinkosi Lorch with 22,826.

Peter Shalulile, who missed his club’s most recent fixtures with an injury remains the most-voted for Downs star, receiving 22,229 votes, followed by Ronwen Williams with 14,534 and Abubeker Nasir with 9,304. There was a change in the Downs line-up, with Bongani Zungu replacing Marcelo Allende.

The AmaZulu line-up remained unchanged since the latest update, with Veli Mothwa leading the voting with 4,518 ahead Gabadinho Mhango with 2,953 and Lehlohonolo Majoro with 2,740 votes.

The Carling Black Label cup will take place on 12 November, when Usuthu and Downs meet in the first semi-final before Pirates and Chiefs face off in a Soweto Derby in the second.

The winners of the two ties will meet each other in the final on the same day.
