It’s going to be a busy Easter weekend for one of South Africa’s well-known football families, the Bartletts, with Shaun and two of his sons in action.

The former Bafana Bafana striker is of course the head coach of GladAfrica Championship side Cape Town Spurs, and they will be in action on Friday evening when they host Polokwane City at the Athlone Stadium.

His eldest son, Tyrique, 23, is part of the Spurs squad and is likely to feature as Spurs, who are 11th on the log, take on Rise & Shine, who are seven points ahead of Spurs in sixth spot. Tyrique, or TJ as he’s affectionately known, is a forward like his father and celebrated his birthday on Thursday.

The former Newcastle United under-23 player has made eight appearances for Spurs this season, scoring once.

Meanwhile, Bartlett’s 20-year-old son, Alonzo, is a member of the Highlands Park squad currently playing at the Bayhill Premier Cup at Erica Park. However, unlike Shaun and Tyrique, Alonzo is a central defender.

Highlands, who are the defending champions after winning the Bayhill in 2019, got off to a winning start on Thursday, when watched on by Shaun and Tyrique, they beat Real FC 3-2. They will next play Friday’s main evening game at the Bayhill when they face D&G Orient.
