Sekhukhune United head coach Brandon Truter has described the arrival of experienced midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo as a big signing.
Kamohelo Mokotjo has joined Sekhukhune on a one-year and half deal.
He joins the Limpopo club as a free agent. His last competitive match came in October 2021 for Major Soccer League side FC Cincinnati in the USA.
Mokotjo was also linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs although there was no formal approach for the player.
FARPost has also gathered that the player held talks with his former club SuperSport United, but a possible move fell through.
The 31-year-old also trained with his former club FC Twente in the Netherlands last year but nothing came out of it.
THE KAMOHELO MOKOTJO IMPACT
“It’s a big signing and big signings come with a bit of pressure,” said an excited Truter.
“So right now I am happy to have him but I also have Given Mashikinya, I also have Tlotlo Leepile who are also very good holding midfielders.
“So he comes in with lots of experience but he has to prove (himself) and get into the team as well,” added Truter.
“It’s either that or we change our make-up and our technical setup to accommodate those three names that I just mentioned right now.”
VUSI MNCUBE INJURY UPDATE
Truter has also given an update on the injury that forced forward Vusi Mncube out of their DStv Premiership match against Stellenbosch.
Mncube was taken off in the second half of the 1-0 win at Danie Craven Stadium.
“My biggest concern is Vusi Mncube, who twists the ankle, but it might be ligaments. But we will see when the swelling goes down, then we can make a better assessment,’ said the Sekhukhune coach.
Club captain Linda Mntambo has not featured for the club since the resumption of the season late last month. Mntambo is serving an injury and is in his last stages of recovery.
