Taking to social media to mark Crystal’s heavenly birthday, Beáta reflected on their first meeting in 2018 while working on the television series Arendsvlei. She recalled how Crystal welcomed her with a smile and the familiar greeting, “Hello, lyfie!” despite Beáta describing herself as an introvert.

“Happy heavenly birthday, Crystal,” she wrote.

Crystal-Donna Roberts made everyone feel welcome

Beáta remembered Crystal as someone who made time for everyone on set, regardless of the size of their roles.

According to the actress, Crystal’s kindness extended beyond their professional environment, creating space for laughter, breakfast conversations and braais at her flat.

“She had time for everyone, regardless of the size of our roles. Not an ounce of ego or shame in being human. Just warmth, laughter, breakfast chats, a braai or two at my flat and someone safe to turn to. Always leading by example,” Beáta shared.

Her tribute highlighted the late actress’s ability to make people feel comfortable and valued, leaving a lasting impression on those who had the opportunity to work alongside her.

‘You’ve got this’: The advice Beáta still carries

Years after their time on Arendsvlei, Beáta found herself turning to Crystal for guidance when she landed her first lead role on Wyfie.

She recalled meeting Crystal over sparkling wine and cheese to seek advice, explaining that she wanted to create the same sense of safety on set that Crystal had given her.

Beáta remembered Crystal’s reassuring response: “You’ve got this. I’ve always known that about you.”

The words have stayed with Beáta over the years, becoming a source of encouragement as she continues to navigate her acting career.

Remembering Crystal’s lasting impact

Beáta explained that whenever she retreats into herself and reflects on the kind of actor she wants to become, she finds herself asking, “What would Crystal say?”

The question reflects the enduring influence Crystal has had on her, both professionally and personally.

“For this, and so much more, I’m incredibly grateful,” Beáta wrote.

She ended her tribute with an emotional message to the late actress: “Thank you, Crystal. I hope you’re dancing in the sky.”

Through her words, Beáta celebrated not only Crystal’s life but also the kindness, generosity and encouragement she leaves behind in the memories of those who knew her.
