Bartlett – We Cross That Bridge When We Get There

Cape Town Spurs head coach Shaun Bartlett hopes that his players stay injury free ahead of the South Africa U23 national team qualifiers.

What’s good for the country, could dent Cape Town Spurs’ promotion hopes as they have five players that received call-ups from David Notoane’s U23 squad. Goalkeeper Lincoln Vyver, Rushwin Dortley, Khaya Mfecane, Boitumelo Radiopane, and Motsepe Foundation Championship top goalscorer Ashley Cupido.

Notoane will announce the final squad on Thursday and Bartlett is expecting all five players to be included in the squad. Speaking with iDiski Times he mentioned that he can’t worry now instead he will cross that bridge when he gets there.

“Just got to cross that bridge when we get to it, to be honest, the final squad gets announced on Thursday, and I do expect all five players to be in it,” Bartlett said.

“Because last time it was an integral part of David Notoane’s squad that played the last two games. So I expect all five to be in it.

“To be honest, we just got to manage the situation and see when they come back hopefully they come back injury free because all of them as you’ve seen, all of them are starting players for us.

“So we’ve got to ensure we manage them to the best of their ability and that’s why for the last couple of weeks like last Friday, we didn’t play Ashley, first half, we’ve got to manage the players that we have, people always have questions.

“We’ve got to assess what you have and make the best decisions for the sport and the club and to get results.”
