Tom Barkhuizen is not short of suitors following his departure from Preston North End.

The 28-year-old has ended a five-year stay at the English Championship club after opting against signing a new contract.

However, the attacker already has several teams waiting to sign him in the current transfer window.

Barkhuizen joined Preston from Morecambe and made 200 appearances at Deepdale, scoring 38 goals in the process.

He came through the youth ranks at Blackpool, playing 27 times and scoring two goals for the Tangerines before departing for Morecambe in 2015. In just over a season with Morecambe, he scored 17 goals.

Derby County, Rotherham United and Bolton Wanderers are amongst a host of clubs who have shown interest in the player’s services, with the forward expected to make a final decision about his next destination in the coming days.

He had a bad final season at Deepdale due to injury and illness, which limited his time on the pitch – he played 14 times in all competitions last season without finding the back of the net.
