Banyana Get Tough 2022 AWCON Group

Banyana Banyana have learned their fate after the draw for the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco took place on Friday evening.

Desiree Ellis’ team have set their targets on winning the tournament this year, and also ensure their qualification for the FIFA Women’s World Cup. The four semi-finalists will head to Australia & New Zealand in 2023.

But they will face a stern test from the get-go as Banyana have been drawn in Group C alongside defending champions Nigeria, and debutants Burundi and Botswana.

Group A will feature hosts Morocco, Burkina Faso, Senegal and Uganda.

While Group B will feature Cameroon, Zambia, Tunisia and Togo.

This is the first AWCON since 2018, with the 2022 edition cancelled due to the covid-19 pandemic.

It will start on the 2nd of July with the final set for the 23rd.
