Bafana Bafana winger Mihlali Mayambela has helped his side Aris Limassol to win their first ever Cyprus 1. Division title and qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
Mihlali, who is the younger of the two Mayambela brothers, has featured in 33 games for Aris this season, scoring four goals and setting up there more.
Sunday’s 3-2 defeat by APEAL Nicosia sealed Aris’ first title in their 93-year-long history.
Aris themselves had Omnia Nicosia 1-0, which put them out of reach in the Championship round with one game to spare.
Aris are 15 games unbeaten, winning 11 and drawing four, while overall they 21 of their 35 games this season, only losing three.
The club will now head into the UEFA Champions League qualifiers for the 2023/24 season, as fans will celebrate the club’s historic achievement.
