Bafana Midfielder Tipped For Major European Move

Bafana Bafana midfielder Luke Le Roux is ‘far too good’ for the Swedish top-flight and will attract a host of clubs in the next transfer window, Varbergs BoIS head coach Joakim Persson has stated.

The 22-year-old made his senior international debut in the FIFA international break that just passed and produced an impressive display against Sierra Leone before a short cameo against Botswana.

Having left South Africa for the Swedish top-flight before his official DStv Premiership debut for SuperSport United, he’s still a relatively unknown figure to many back homes but he’s been quietly going about his business in Scandanavia and letting his football do the talking.

The deep-lying playmaker ranks highest in his team for interceptions (2.6), tackles (2) and accurate passes (33) per 90 minutes in his 22 games played and Persson feels they won’t be able to keep hold of him much longer in Sweden.

“I am not surprised that the best of Sweden in their position is doing well even at the national team level,” he said after Le Roux stated that it was a ‘dream’ to finally make his Bafana debut.

“[He is] far too good for Allsvenskan and will have a leash of clubs chasing him when the transfer window opens.”

Le Roux made the Allsvenskan Team of the Week in his first game back after national team duty and will now be aiming to help his side retain their top-flight status in the second half of the season.
