Authorities clearing the scene after 20 car pile-up near Soweto

The Johannesburg Metro Police Department says it is clearing up after a major accident on the N1 near Soweto on Saturday.

20 vehicles were involved in the accident.

Authorities say, however, that no deaths have been reported.

“Multiple injuries have been reported and all patients have been taken to various hospitals. No fatalities have been reported and at the moment it is not confirmed how the accident happened,” said JMPD spokesperson, Xolani Fihla.
