Anthony Hamilton lands in SA
Grammy-winning soul star Anthony Hamilton has officially arrived in South Africa, and Johannesburg wasted no time in making him feel welcome.
The singer landed at O.R. Tambo International Airport on Tuesday ahead of his much-anticipated performance in Durban this weekend.
Shortly after arriving, he shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, reflecting on the reception he received.
“Touched down in Joburg last night… OR Tambo, you sure know how to welcome a man home,” he wrote.
In a video accompanying the post, Hamilton is seen posing with airport security, taking selfies with fans, sharing hugs and soaking up the atmosphere.
Dressed casually in a cap emblazoned with the words “Country Boy,” the award-winning artist appeared relaxed and genuinely moved by the warm welcome.
Adding a personal touch, Hamilton referred to himself as “Mzwandile”, a Xhosa name meaning “the family has grown”, saying South Africa feels like home and that his heart is full.
His Johannesburg visit also included a stop at Emperors Palace, where he enjoyed dinner at the upscale Reign Restaurant.
Hamilton joins a growing list of international celebrities who have publicly praised Johannesburg.
