ANC NEC to discuss Zuma’s standing within the party: Mbalula

African National Congress (ANC) Secretary General Fikile Mbalula says the party will discuss former president Jacob Zuma’s standing within the ANC at its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, which kicks off on Friday in Boksburg, east of Johannesburg.

This follows Zuma’s announcement that he would not campaign for the party  Zuma’s announcement that he would not campaign for the party and would support the recently formed uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK) party in the upcoming elections.

Mbalula says the final pronouncement on the matter will be made at the end of the meeting, which concludes on Sunday.

“I know most of you will be interested in the MK party and president Zuma. We will reflect on that, and at the end of that discussion, after the report, we’ll make a public political statement of the ANC post the National Executive Committee.

“Also in relation to what is our attitude towards that party and president Zuma as a member of the ANC in good standing, about actions and activities he has undertaken thus far,” Mbalula explains.
