AmaZulu Parting With Benni McCarthy

AmaZulu are believed to be parting ways with Benni McCarthy, iDiski Times has learnt.

The DStv Premiership side and McCarthy looked like a match made in heaven after the former Bafana Bafana striker took Usuthu to their first ever CAF Champions League campaign and even further into the group stages.

McCarthy, who took over at AmaZulu on 14 December 2020, won the DStv Premiership Coach of the Season title after guiding them into a surprise second spot on the log.

However, the outspoken coach had continuously asked for better signings to compete on the continent and in domestic competitions, which likely caused friction in the club.

Last weekend, AmaZulu were knocked out of the CAF Champions League after losing 2-0 to Raja Casablanca.

On Friday, an unnamed source confirmed to this publication that the club decided to part ways with McCarthy.

When contacted by iDiski Times, McCarthy stated that he was called into a meeting with the club’s leadership on Friday morning.
