Multiple reports recently suggested that Lehlohonolo Majoro had left AmaZulu FC, but the saga seems to have taken a new twist.
‘Major’ was mentioned along with Keagan Buchanan and Ramahlwe Mphahlelwe, who had been released by the club.
However, during the club’s media open day on Tuesday, ‘Major’ was part of the team that was training as they were gearing up for the Swallows clash. Meanwhile, as expected, Buchanan and Mphahlele were not present.
Further, the head coach of the club Romain Folz has refuted the claims that Majoro had departed the club. He says he only caught the news in the air, and they had no intention to let go of the striker.
LATEST TWIST IN AMAZULU – LEHLOHONOLO MAJORO SAGA
“I received screenshots sometimes, people saying Majoro has been released or anything, I don’t know where it came from, it was never my intention,” he said.
“So, don’t always listen to what people are saying. Very often, you gonna find out it’s not true.
“It was never my intention or the club’s at any point to get rid of Majoro.
“Majoro is here. He was injured in the previous game. He had an ankle injury that was persistent, that’s it.
“There was never any issue with him.”
With regards to releasing Buchanan and Mphahlele, the 32-year-old mentor said he believed it was best for the club.
“We took the decision to let them go elsewhere, as I believe it’s best for the team and best for the club,” he added.
Buchanan joined Usuthu in 2021 as a free agent after he had parted company with Maritzburg United. Meanwhile, Mphahlele signed for the KZN outfit this season after Kaizer Chiefs opted not to renew his contract.
