There are very few things that affect the confidence of a person in the same way that an acne breakout does.

For many, the saturation of these pus-filled bumps causes a significant level of discomfort and also contributes to one becoming self-aware, which could negatively affect your overall self-esteem.

What is acne?

According to the health and wellness publication, the Cleveland Clinic, acne is a very common condition among teenagers and young adults.

This usually exists because of clogged pores, which produce blackheads, whiteheads, and other kinds of pus-filled pimples. This may be painful and cause several bumps on the surface of one’s skin. The above-mentioned source further reveals that the correct medical term for acne is acne vulgaris.

This is especially evident in areas like one’s face, forehead, chest, shoulders, and upper back.

While most people tend to look at acne as simply being the existence of numerous pimples, this is not the case. There are various kinds of acne.

Different types of acne include:

  • Blackheads
  • Whiteheads
  • Papules
  • Pustules
  • Nodules
  • Cysts

According to the Cleveland Clinic, despite this often being viewed as the norm among young women in particular, there are some notable factors that could be triggering this condition.

These are:

Sebum: An oily substance that provides a protective barrier for your skin.

Bacteria: Small amounts of bacteria naturally live on your skin. If you have too much bacteria, it can clog your pores.

Dead skin cells: Your skin cells shed often to make room for more cells to grow. When your skin releases dead skin cells, they can get stuck in your hair follicles.
