Rapper-turned-TV-host Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye is making a splashy return to the reality show ‘Uyajola 9/9’, set to premiere on November 2 on Moja Love (DStv 157). Fans of the bold, often controversial series are thrilled, but not everyone is cheering.

A R12 Million Legal Storm

Amid the excitement, Jub Jub faces a major legal hurdle. Sheron Tose has filed a R12 million lawsuit against him, claiming that she and her partner were filmed without consent during a “Uyajola 9/9” segment. According to court documents, the crew allegedly barged into their bedroom, capturing private moments that led to emotional trauma and humiliation.

The case is currently before the Johannesburg High Court, reigniting discussions about the ethics of reality TV in South Africa.

Social Media Divides

There are multiple human rights violations. This show was floored from the word go. They even discontinued it in America because of the violations. It’s illegal to follow someone for days without their consent, invade their privacy in any form and video tape them without consent.

As expected, the internet has erupted with mixed reactions. Supporters of the show and its host flooded social media with excitement. One fan tweeted:

“We’ve been waiting yoh 😭😭 finally.”

Another joked:

“😂😂😂 those of us who don’t cheat, it’s safe to say welcome back.”

Others, however, raised serious ethical concerns. A Twitter user @MatshidisoAnnen pointed out:

“There are multiple human rights violations. This show was flawed from the word go. It’s illegal to follow someone for days without consent, invade their privacy, and videotape them without consent.”

Another commented:

“They must just cancel that show.. It f***in useless and it only favours that other gender…!!!”

Jub Jub’s Checkered Past

This isn’t the first time Jub Jub has faced public scrutiny. The host has previously been investigated over a R120 000 fraud case, adding layers to the current controversy. Despite past legal battles, his fanbase remains loyal, demonstrating the paradoxical nature of reality TV fame.

What’s Next for ‘Uyajola 9/9’?

Whether the show will continue to push boundaries or face tighter scrutiny, remains to be seen. For now, fans are counting down the days until November 2, eager to see how the show balances sensationalism with the rights and dignity of those featured.

Playful banter on social media reflects a uniquely South African sense of humour, even amid controversy. One X user quipped:

“Hahaha, we missed you, Mara, why do I feel like this season ngizoba khona😭 (I’ll be there).”

As ‘Uyajola 9/9’ returns to screens, the nation will watch, not just the drama on TV, but how the legal system, social ethics, and public opinion collide in real time.
