Orlando Pirates transfer news: Bucs to lose Oswin Appollis for R72m?

With Relebohile Mofokeng already gone, Oswin Appollis could be the next Orlando Pirates star to secure a move to Europe.

The 24-year-old attacker has been linked with several clubs since helping the Buccaneers win the Betway Premiership title. Appollis enjoyed an impressive campaign, contributing 11 goals and seven assists across all competitions.

He also featured for Bafana Bafana at the FIFA World Cup, where his performances may have further boosted both his profile and market value.

According to Portuguese publication Radar da Liga, FC Porto have submitted an offer worth around €4 million (approximately R72 million) for Appollis.

The report claims Orlando Pirates have accepted the proposal, with the winger potentially completing the move in the coming weeks.

Oswin Appollis likely to leave Pirates

Appollis did not return to South Africa immediately after Bafana Bafana’s FIFA World Cup exit in the Round of 32. Instead, he remained in the United States for about a week alongside fellow Bafana striker Lyle Foster.

However, on Tuesday, the speedy winger was spotted with his Orlando Pirates teammates at Relebohile Mofokeng’s farewell dinner, adding further intrigue to speculation surrounding his future.

Despite the growing transfer rumours, Oswin Appollis remains a Pirates player for now.

The Buccaneers may prefer to keep him for another season as they prepare to challenge for domestic honours and the CAF Champions League.

Should both Appollis and Mofokeng depart, Pirates would lose two of their most influential attacking players. Together, the duo contributed around 40 goals and assists last season, leaving a significant void that would not be easy to fill.

An offer worth R72 million is undoubtedly attractive, but whether Orlando Pirates are willing to part with another key player remains the big question.

It remains to be seen if Oswin Appollis will join the Pirates squad for pre-season training.

Should Pirates sell Appollis?
