After their loss in a penalty shootout to Jwaneng Galaxy on Friday, Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has said that no individuals will take the blame for their CAF Champions League exit.
Pirates levelled matters over the two-legged tie as Evidence Makgopa saw them win 1-0 on the day, but with a 1-1 aggregate, a penalty shootout was required.
Unfortunately, teenager Relebohile Mofokeng’s effort was saved as Morena Ramoreboli’s team advanced 5-4 in the shootout.
When asked about giving the responsibility to the young man, Riveiro said that Pirates win and lose as a team, and they will also be to support each other.
“We are a very strong group with formidable characters inside, personalities, and everybody is going to play an important role from now to make sure that everyone feels that they are in a safe space, that they will feel protected for the future,” Riveiro replied at the post-match press conference.
“And when we win, we do it as a group. When we lose, we do it as a group as well.
“Sometimes the coach is getting more responsibility and it’s normal. But there’s nothing to highlight in terms of individuals tonight.”
