Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies head coach Jerry Tshabalala says he cannot confirm whether his side have signed Banyana Banyana midfielder Kholosa Biyana.
Earlier on Saturday, iDiski Times reported that the midfielder signed a long-term contract with the Hollywoodbets Super League defending champions after joining from University of Western Cape (UWC).
Sundowns were in action against Copperbelt Ladies on the return of league action after the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand and laboured for a 1-0 victory against the rookies to maintain top spot on the log with 50 points — two points away from their nearest rivals UWC.
Tshabalala when asked to confirm the news of Biyana said he didn’t know anything about the signing, however, the club needs a player like her, especially after losing Thalea Smidt.
“I don’t know. I haven’t seen any announcement of Kholosa,” Tshabalala told IDiski Times.
“If she’s here, she’s going to add a lot of value to the team. I haven’t seen it, I don’t want to lie I don’t know what you are on about. But I’ll go to the website and check but if she’s been announced I think she’s going to add a lot of value for us.
“You know we needed a CDM like that. Remember we lost Thalea Smidt and we never replaced a player of Thalea Smidt’s calibre, so I think it was about time for us to replace Thalea Smidt and I think Kholosa would come at the right time.”
