Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki says they are still awaiting feedback if new striker Efmamjasond González will be available to make his debut against AmaZulu.

The Colombian striker arrived at Naturena on Wednesday afternoon and was unveiled after joining on a season-long loan with an option to buy from Bolivian club Real Santa Cruz.

While he was not present at training on Thursday afternoon at the Village, Ntseki could neither confirm nor deny whether he’d be ready for the upcoming game against Usuthu.

“The new player coming in, there’s still an issue with paperwork, we will be advised by the office if the player is ready and available for selection,” Ntseki said when asked by iDiski Times if a debut could be expected on Saturday.

The towering striker joins Ranga Chivaviro as central out-and-out number nine option within their squad and represents their eighth signing of the off-season.

And the former Bafana Bafana boss shed some insight in what attracted Amakhosi into making an official move for the 24-year-old.

“He’s a Colombian, a South African, very tall, even bigger than myself which makes me feel very comfortable having him around.

“Our assessment and profiling of him… he’s a young striker, very elusive on the ball, he can play from central and wide areas. Very quick for his height so we’re actually looking for someone who can help us as a reference point.

“But also help us for creativity in the last third and hopefully getting us goals because basically that’s what’s missing from the team, we won’t put any pressure on him, we’ll work a team to get those chances to score those chances, to finish those chances.

“He’s welcomed to the country, he’s part of the Khosi nation and then the only thing we have to do is have a proper induction of him in terms of the league itself, the type of opponents, he’s going to come up against and players we have in the team.

“In terms of language we already have Dove [Edmilson] who can speak the language, we have George Matlou who can speak the language, we have Edson Castillo who can speak the language so I think it will be an easy ride for him to get connected to the guys.”

Chiefs will be aiming for their first win in the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season when they host the Durban-based outfit at the Calabash on Saturday (17h30).
