New Marumo Gallants CEO Sinky Mnisi who said he is ‘the chosen one’ to lead them back into the top-flight referenced Morgan Mammila to send a warning to Casric Stars, who they open up their 2023/24 season against.
Mnisi was announced on Thursday morning as the new CEO of the relegated side that reached the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup last season.
In an exciting new project, in which he lauded himself as the ‘chosen one‘, the former Highlands Park man said he’s here to bring excitement to the league and help the club back into the top flight at the first time of asking.
“I want to enjoy myself in football, make it interesting in the Motsepe Foundation and interesting that we will get promoted, I repeat, we are going to the Premier League, it’s where we belong and I’m here to make it happen with the assistance of the technical staff here and Mr Sello himself, and the players,” Mnisi said upon his unveiling on Thursday.
“I will meet the players for the first time tomorrow and we’ll start planning… we have a week and we start with Casric Stars that were in the promotion play-offs, it’s good… we were relegated and they were in the play-offs.
“So we’ll meet in the tunnel for the first time, actually it doesn’t matter where we met, I can assure you, we’ll be ready. Like my friend Morgan ‘Pound to Pound’ Mamilla says… We are ready to meet them, pound for pound.”
New head coach Pitso Dlaldla echoed the sentiments of Mnisi saying they need not be told by the club Chairman what the ambitions and goals are for the upcoming campaign.
“Luckily I have met the players for two days, so I know what’s there when we talk about quality, we have enough quality, I believe we have assembled a very good team to compete,” Dladla said about their mandate this season.
“The league itself, says it all, it’s a promotion league where each and every team competing wants promotion if you come to a team in this league with no ambition to be promoted, there’s no point being here, the name says it all.
“As our CEO is saying, the mandate doesn’t need to be given, it’s their on it’s own, we want to go back where they team belongs, the elite league, we believe we can promote the team and we must promote the team.”
The two sides meet on Sunday 27, August at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium at 15h00.
