Cape Town Spurs have secured the signing of Nicholus Lukhubeni from Mamelodi Sundowns on a season-long loan deal.

The 27-year-old is now on his fifth consecutive loan from the club since graduating into the Sundowns’ first team from their DStv Diski Challenge squad.

He spent time with TTM, Sekuhkune United, Maritzburg United, Moroka Swallows and now the Urban Warriors upon their return to the top flight.

With 67 appearances in the top flight over the past few seasons, he will be tasked to add some much-needed energy on their flanks and challenge veteran defender Nazeer Allie for the right-back role.

Academy graduate Khaya Mfecane has also been used in the role in recent times but Lukhubeni adds competition to Shaun Bartlett’s squad this season after an indifferent start to the campaign with a defeats to TS Galaxy and Sekhukhune United.

The Urban Warriors travel to Polokwane this weekend to face last season’s Motsepe Foundation Championship winners Polokwane City.
