ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba has weighed in on the ongoing violent taxi strike in Cape Town, citing that the only way out of this is negotiation or all allow the Cape to continue to burn.

WHAT HERMAN MASHABA OF ACTIONSA THINKS OF THE CAPE TOWN TAXI STRIKE

Mashaba made it clear that ActionSA stands with the people of the Western Cape as they suffer the consequences of the ANC and taxi associations playing politics and inciting violence in that province.

“We call on the National Minister of Transport, as well as the Taxi Associations, to respect the rule of law and, where they believe the City of Cape Town’s by-laws exceed the parameters set by National legislation, to approach the courts to have those by-laws reviewed and set aside,” he said.

SANTACO GOES TO COURT

SANTACO has indeed released a statement today, Thursday, 10 August, that they were intending to approach the court to apply for an urgent interdict over the impoundment of their taxis.

“ActionSA calls on the Western Cape Government and the City of Cape Town to return to negotiations and to stay at the negotiation table until the conflict is resolved.”

PRESIDENT RAMAPHOSA URGED TO INTERVENE

“From local government to the world stage, it is precisely during situations of conflict and violence that negotiation and conflict resolution are most essential.
We note the glaring absence of the President during the disaster that is unfolding in the Western Cape and call on him to come out of hiding, to show leadership and to add his voice to the calls for calm, reason and peace in the Western Cape,” ActionSA leader spoke out.
