Kaizer Chiefs have been invited to face off against Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC on Wananchi Day this month.
In a special event dedicated to unveiling the club’s new signings to their supporters at the Benjamin Mkapa and creating hype for the new season, they follow legendary South African coach Pitso Mosimane, who attended the week ahead of their clash against Vipers SC last year.
The event garners massive attention across the continent and Yanga has continuously attempted to make each year bigger than the previous one – with 2023 being no different as they extended an invite to Chiefs last month.
iDiski Times understands that the two clubs are close to agreeing on a deal to take part in the event on 22 July in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The game will take place a week prior to their next trip to the capital of Botswana, Gaborone, where they will play Township Rollers at the National Stadium for another part of their pre-season preparations.
Amakhosi are currently in camp in Mpumalanga with a new optimism brewing around the squad with seven new signings and the appointment of Molefi Ntseki as head coach, taking over from Arthur Zwane, who has been retained as an assistant alongside Dillon Sheppard.
The forays in the continent will no doubt see opportunities for the new signings Given Msimango, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, Mduduzi Mdantsane, Pule Mmodi, Ranga Chivaviro, Edson Castillo and Tebogo Potsane in action in the coming weeks.
