A motorist whose vehicle overturned while trying to avoid cars that were drag racing had his arm amputated.
The incident happened on the R102 in Canelands, KwaZulu-Natal on Friday afternoon, 30 June.
MOTORIST’S ARM AMPUTATED
According to private security, Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), they arrived on scene at approximately 18:19 and discovered a white Mercedes Benz Sprinter lying on its side.
The driver was located next to the wreckage and his right arm was amputated in the accident.

RUSA spokesperson, Prem Balram said the female passenger informed Reaction Officers that they were travelling heading towards Verulam when the driver suddenly veered to avoid two cars that were drag racing.
Balram said the seriously injured motorist was stabilised on scene by medics from a private ambulance service before being transported to hospital by ambulance.
ONE KILLED 18 INJURED
In a separate incident one person was killed while 18 were injured in an accident on the N3 between Cato Ridge and Hammarsdale, KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday morning, 1 July.
According to emergency service, ALS Paramedics, they arrived on the scene to find total carnage as two trucks and a fully laden taxi had collided closing the entire national route.
The emergency service said a quick triage system was set up and immediately more ambulances as well as Advanced Life Support Paramedics were dispatched to assist.

One person, a female believed to be in her forties had sustained major injuries and there was nothing more paramedics could do for her and she was declared deceased on the scene.
