Five men have been arrested and face charges of aggravated robbery after items belonging to Frischke were found in their possession.
Igshaan Fisher, Jason Abrahams, Vanroy Petersen, Carlo Guenantin and Melvin Guenantin reportedly admitted to robbing the tourist while he was hiking. They are expected back in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on 22 June. The matter was postponed for further investigation.
Action Society said the family had not been receiving regular updates from the authorities.
“We will do all we can to assist in this case. The family is in another country and is not getting frequent updates which worries them. We will keep a close eye on this matter, monitor it and utilise our resources,” said spokesperson Kaylynn Palm.
