Unpaid Salaries At Uthongathi – iDiski Times

Uthongathi FC players and staff are yet to receive their May salaries after finishing the 2022/23 season in seventh place in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Coach Papi Zothwane is also among those who have not been paid by the club, this publication has learnt.

The KwaZulu-Natal based side has become the latest Premier Soccer League team to be dealing with unpaid salaries.

Players normally receive their salaries at the end of each month but till today they haven’t received anything, this publication has learnt.

According to a close source, some players are being kicked out of the flats they are staying at, with those who are South Africans having to go back home, while the foreign players are left stranded.

“Players are been kicked out their flats, same with coaches as well, all debit orders have bounced and these people have families to feed,” the source told iDiski Times.

“Previously they changed the payday without informing anyone from the 26th to last day of the month.”

Attempts to speak to Uthongathi chairlady Nompumelelo Nhlumane were left fruitless, as she did not pick up her phone.

Uthongathi joins Pretoria Callies, who recently also had salary issues, as reported by iDiski Times, while earlier in the campaign the same happened at All Stars.

Sadly, it has somewhat become of a norm to not pay salaries in the South African second tier, with many players and staff members having been complaining about not getting their monies on time.
