The eThekwini Municipality says there will be an emergency power outage which will interrupt electricity supply on Saturday, 3 June 2023.
Electricity supply will be interrupted from 15:30 to approximately 18:00 on Saturday.
EMERGENCY POWER OUTAGE IN PINETOWN
The eThekwini said its electricity department needs to perform urgent switchgear maintenance at Pineside Substation to improve the reliability of the Substation, hence improving the quality of supply to the area. Therefore, it is necessary to interrupt electricity supply.

“During this outage, the public is advised to treat all electrical installations as live,” the municipality urged.

NORMAL LOAD SHEDDING SCHEDULES RESUME
On Thursday, 25 May, the eThekwini Municipality reverted to normal load shedding hours after being on a separate schedule to the rest of the country for an extended period of time. This was due to the damage caused by the April 2022 floods to water and electrical infrastructure.
The metro was only subject to load shedding past stage 4, and many regions were exempt.
