EMPD FINDS ANOTHER CITY OF EKURHULENI WORKER ABUSING COMPANY FLEET

Again, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) confiscated another municipal vehicle from a mischievous employee.

On Wednesday 31 May 2023 at about 07:50, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Security and Loss Control Unit Officers, impounded the council-issued motor vehicle belonging to the Parks Department, from a City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) employee.

As the officers were busy with their normal duties, they came across the municipal vehicle that had a school child as a passenger inside the vehicle, on Eagle Street in the Modderbee area of Benoni.

COUNCIL EMPLOYEES WARNED TO REFRAIN FROM ABUSING MUNICIPAL RESOURCES

“The EMPD would like to reiterate, that those who make use of council resources that are meant to serve the public, should refrain from such as these resources are for the purpose of service delivery,” EMPD appealed once again.

This trend seems to be prevalent in Benoni. This after on Tuesday, 23 May 2023 at about 06:00, members of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Security and Loss Control Unit also impounded three municipal vehicles following misuse by City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) council employees in the Benoni area.
Upon receiving a tip-off from a reliable source about City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) employees, using council vehicles to drop off their children at school, members swiftly acted on the information received and were led to a high school in Benoni where the law enforcers discovered three vehicles, namely a marked BMW belonging to the EMPD, a marked Ford Ranger belonging to the Disaster & Emergency Management Services Department (DEMS) and an unmarked white Ford Ranger belonging to the Parks Department, inside the school parking lot.
