Having just confirmed the exit of veteran defender Eric Mathoho, Kaizer Chiefs seem to still be in the market for defenders, even from their rivals.

It now looks as if, they are satisfied with that side of defence, and are swiftly moving along to another side. That is because, Chiefs are believed to be interested in signing Swallows FC full back Gregory Damons, according to Soccer-Laduma. They are also thought to be ready to sign the player depending on how talks go between them and Swallows.
Chiefs interested in Damons
“They want him (Damons) . They have been monitoring him and it will all boil down to the talks between the two teams, But as for Chiefs, he is one of the players that they have earmarked for the new season. Swallows also value the player so much and it won’t be easy for them to let him go. Maybe there will be other players involved in the deal as well if he is to be released by Swallows. For now, it’s just interest from Chiefs, so there is nothing much we can say until they approach their opponents about the player they want,” said a source to the same publication.

Chiefs would be confident of striking a deal with Swallows for Damons, just judging off of the relationship the two clubs have shared over the years. Both Soweto giants have benefitted from each other, with the likes of Dillon Solomons, Sfiso Hlanti, Kgaogelo Sekgota, Njabulo Ngcobo, George Matlou and Kamohelo Mahlatsi have joined the Amakhosi. The Dube Birds have also seen the likes of Given Thibedi, Yagan Sasman, Lebobang Lesako and Darrel Matsheke to name but a few.

Having got into the top eight though, Swallows would probably look to build on the season they have had, and that would include keeping their best players which includes Damon, instead of boosting Chiefs.
