SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews has confirmed interest in a Kaizer Chiefs midfielder ahead of the upcoming PSL season.

SuperSport squad may be dismantled as players on loan like Thabang Sibanyoni, Grant Margeman and Ricardo Goss return to their parent club Mamelodi Sundowns.

To add, Botswana international Thatayaone Ditlhokwe is on his way to Chiefs after signing a pre-contract.

Therefore, the Tshwane side wants to bolster their squad as they will have many matches next season.

Matsatsantsa qualified for next season’s CAF Confederation Cup after finishing third, and a new domestic competition – the Carling Knockout will kick off.

According to Matthews, Nange is a player they would want to add to their squad. The 31-year-old may move away from the Soweto giants after his contract ends in June. During his time at the club, Nange has been struggling for game time, mainly due to injury setbacks.

In addition, in the just-ended season, he only played five matches in all competitions.

“Yes, but I need to know that he [Phathutshedzo Nange] is free because sometimes he’s free, sometimes he’s not free,” said Matthews.

“So if Nange is a player that is free and we can agree on terms with him, he’s definitely someone who is interesting for us.

“Gavin [Hunt] has worked with him [at Bidvest Wits before]. He likes him.”

Nange joined Chiefs from the Winelands outfit in July 2021 on a free transfer. This was after a successful season at Stellies after his switch from Bidvest Wits.

His impressive stint in Cape Town would see him making 24 appearances for the club before being signed by Chiefs.

At Amakhosi, he reunited with his ex-Wits coach Gavin Hunt and had a relatively fair season. Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos even picked him for the national team.
