Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahli Saudi returned to winning ways on Wednesday and are now just two wins away from securing the Yelo League title.
Al Ahli beat bottom-placed Al Shoulla 1-0 on Wednesday, to return to the top, three points ahead of Al Akhdood.
Mosimane’s side scored their only goal via Ryad Boudebouz in the 60th minute. Their lead could’ve been higher, but Boudabouz failed to complete his brace when he missed a spot-kick in the 72nd minute.
The victory saw Al Ahli climb back to top of the log with 68 points, three points ahead of second-placed Al Akhdood, who had been ahead of them based on goal difference.
Mosimane’s side secured promotion two weeks ago, but are still playing for the title of the Yelo League, with just two games outstanding.
Overall, Mosimane has picked up 17 wins, six draws and now three defeats since taking charge of Al Ahli.
However, there is talk that Al Ahli will not activate their option to extend his deal by another year, as they are understood to look to a new coach to lead them in the Saudi Pro League.
